![]() Just like the other Tamora Pierce series, this is a sort of coming-of-age story (can you tell I like those?). However, by the end of the first book, Beka proves her worth. Beka, having just completed basic training, gets assigned to the evening watch in the Lower City with the best pair of Dogs, both of whom have gained legend status after being in the guard for many years–an impressive feat given the part of town they patrol. Being such senior officers, they are unhappy to have a trainee, called a Puppy, to take care of. The Dogs are split into pairs, assigned to a section of the city, and divided amongst three shifts: Day Watch, Evening Watch, and Night Watch. ![]() The Provost’s Guard is composed of a variety of officers, known as Dogs because of their propensity for sniffing out and hunting down criminals. This three-book series chronicles the life of Beka Cooper from her first day on the streets as part of the Provost’s Guard, the medieval fantasy version of a police force. ![]() We’re finally at the last review of my Tamora Pierce review series! How do you feel? Are you tired of them? Do you wish there were more? Have you read any of the four series? Let me know!Īnyways, the last and final series in the Tortall universe is Beka Cooper (alternately, Provost’s Dog). ![]()
